M1911 is a single action semiautomatic pistol chamber 45 in ACP. It has served as a standard service weapons in the US Armed Forces from 1911 to 1986. It was widely used in World War I, World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War . USA purchased about 2.7 million M1911 and M1911A1 pistols through military contracts during its lifetime. M1911 was in October 1986 replaced the 9mm Beretta standard US service weapons, but because of its popularity among its users, it is not been completely phased out. Modernized variants of the M1911 is still used by some units of the US Army Special Forces, US Navy 
and US Marine Corps. The gun was designed by John Browning and is clearly the of his designs are BELVE most kent and most popular, especially among civilian shooters and contest shooters worldwide. Compact variants are especially popular for concealed carry of civilian life in the United States because of designens relatively slim width and  45 ACP cartridge stopping power ..  

World War II created a great demand for weapons and about 1.9 million units were bestildt by the US government and all forces were deployed for atsikre delivery which meant that production was outsourced to several manufacturers, including Remington Rand (900,000 produced), Colt (400,000), Ithaca Gun Company (400,000), Union Switch & Signal (50,000) and singer (500). New M1911-A1 guns were given a metal finish parked in place of a brown ring, and trægrebskallerne was replaced with the grip shells of brown plastic.
