Its tremendous power is generated by a robust spring piston power plant cocked by a side lever action. The substantial one-piece stock allows for comfortable offhand shooting and the precision rifled, fixed barrel system is loaded via the sliding breech opening. Other features include an adjustable trigger, adjustable rear sight, and automatic safety. RWS is a trademark which dates back to the 1800s and comes from a small company located in the German state of North Rhine Westphalia. The company name was, "Rheinish-Westfalische Sprengstoff (RWS)" or "Rhenania WestphliaExplosives". Early in the 20th century, RWS joined Dynamit Nobel, formed by scientist and industrialist, Alfred Nobel, who was also the founder of the distinguished Nobel Prize. In the beginning, the company produced Nobel’s own invention, a safety explosive called Dynamite. Over time the company came to concentrate efforts in the shooting sports and today, RWS is associated with the highest quality airguns and airgun ammunition available.
