The Steyr TMP (Taktische Maschinenpistole/Tactical Machine Pistol) is a select-fire blowback-operated 9×19mm Parabellum caliber machine pistol with a locked breech and a rotating barrel. A suppressor can also be fitted on it. The Steyr TMP was designed in 1989 by Friedrich Aigner and manufactured from 1992 to 2001 in Austria by Steyr Mannlicher GmbH. It accepts detachable magazines with capacity of 15, 20 or 30 rounds. Muzzle velocity is 400 m/s (1,312 ft/s) and effective firing range is 100 meters. In 2001, Steyr sold the design to Brügger & Thomet from Switzerland who developed it into the Brügger & Thomet MP9. The civilian-legal version was called SSP and it was expensive and only imported in the USA in small numbers. |
