The SG 553 R is a gas operated weapon with a rotary bolt mechanism. The SG 553 R accepts the common AK 47 magazine and this combined the highest Swiss precision and proven success over the decades of the 7.62 x 39 mm cartridge. At distances of up to 300m, 328 yards it can shoot in semi-automatic fire, in rapid semi-automatic fire, in three-round bursts or in full auto-operation. The SG 553 R can be fired with the butt stock in the normal position or folded back. Muzzle fire velocity V0 approx. 650 m/s. Muzzle energy E0 approx. 1690 J. Sights: Type Flip up. Sight base 343 mm. Range adjustment 100 m.
