In 1898, the world quickly took notice when Merkel began the manufacture of their classic over under. This was the first time that traditional skilled craftsmanship was combined with modern automated manufacturing techniques to produce premium grade double guns in large quantities. Painstaking craftsmanship is the only method that can recreate this unmistakable form, and it is still utilized to produce the Merkel 2000 over under models of today. The latest model now offers a choice between a conventional self cocking system, normally found on shotguns, or the Merkel Duo manual cocking system which is ideally suited for combination guns and double rifles. These classic over and under shotguns are perfectly designed for hunting or sporting clays. There are almost no limits to the available individual customization options. Choices for triggers, stock shape, barrel confi guration, ejectors that can be deactivated - this gun system has every component needed to individualize the confi guration. Your authorized dealer will be pleased to assist you with the various available options. Locking mechanism: Modified Anson-Deeley locks. Breech: Kersten cross bolt with adjustable bite plate. Solid and long-lasting. Trigger: Single selective trigger with adjustment for length of pull. Safety: Manual safety with intercepting safety sear. Ejectors: Standard equipment. Option for deactivation available. Receiver: The steel receiver is perfectly scaled to the bore diameter which gives every Merkel model 2000 a slim profile and excellent handling characteristics. Semi pistol grip or English style stock with classic hand fitted threepiece forearm. Standard pistol grip is also available as an option. A painstakingly hand-crafted three-piece forearm is also available. |
