The Jericho 941 was introduced in 1990 by Israel Military Industries (today: Israel Weapon Industries). Made in Israel, it is a conventional double action/single action, locked-breech, semiautomatic pistol based on the Italian Tanfoglio system, itself a well-made clone of the Czechoslovak Cz-75 pistol. Initially it was made in 9mm and in .41AE (.41 Action Express) that was soon replaced by the 40 Smith & Wesson (40 Auto) caliber version. The Jericho pistol has been imported in various countries under a variety of names, other than its original one. The Jericho comes in standard, short and compact models, with either steel or polymer frames, including slide or frame mounted safety. The Jericho is the standard pistol of the Israeli Police and police units worldwide including Elite security entities. The small arms business of IMI (Israel Military Industries) has been privatized, and Jericho pistols are currently made by IWI (Israeli Weapon Industries) Ltd. |
