The VP70M is the selective fire "machine pistol" version (fires semi-auto and three round burst) and was a law enforcement/military sales only product. It uses a mechanism in the attached buttstock to fire as a "machine pistol" (i.e. in three round burst). When in burst mode, the cyclic rate of the VP70 is a blistering 2200 rounds per minute. Without the buttstock attached, it (VP70M) functions the same as the VP70Z/VP70 — as a semiautomatic pistol. When not mounted, the stock acts as a holster. The VP stands for the German "Volkspistole" which means "People's pistol". 'M' stands for 'Militär,' or Military. The VP70M was designed by the HK engineer Helmut Weldle and company co-founder Alex Seidel |
