The H&K SP89 "Sport Pistole was made as civilian semi-automatic version of their popular fully automatic MP5K. The HK SP89 was a large frame pistol with delayed roller locked bolt system, made for sporting use. Firing from a closed bolt, the SP89 is accurate and reliable. The H&K SP89 was only imported for a short time because importation was stopped by president Clinton executive order (The Federal Assault Weapons Ban) in 1993. Original price in the USA was $800. Not many of these came into the United States befor the ban so only a small number is available as 'preban' collector's items, commanding premium prices. |
