FN PDW

The FN SCAR PDW (Personal Defense Weapon) is a tailored design to meet the needs of aircraft, watercraft, vehicle operators and personal security details who have confined operational spaces or who have a desire to conceal their weapon. The FN SCAR PDW features the same short stroke gas piston operating system, reliability and durability as the FN SCAR Family of Weapons and adds no more than one minute of angle accuracy (1 MOA) to the ammunition out to 200 meters. While PDWs have been in use for years, the need exists for a compact weapon capable of extended range fire without sacrificing terminal effects. FN has expanded the SCAR Family of Weapons in an effort to address the shortcomings of existing PDWs such as poor ergonomics and under caliber. FN has designed the FN SCAR™ Personal Defense Weapon (PDW). Built using the proven architecture of the FN SCAR PDW capitalizes on the use of 5.56x45mm NATO cartridges. The FN SCAR PDW provides quick, accurate, controllable, lethal fire and eliminates carrying ammunition not in use by the majority of NATO and friendly forces. General Specifications: 5.56x45mm NATO. Selective fire. Short stroke gas piston. Rotating, locking bolt. Ultra-compact design. Composite polymer trigger module. Flat Dark Earth (FDE) or black color. Receiver: Hard-anodized monolithic aluminum receiver. MIL-STD 1913 accessory rails at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock positions. Integral, folding front and rear back-up iron sights. Barrel: Hammer-forged chrome-lined steel. Fully free-floating design. Barrel can be changed by operator in less than five minutes. Operating Controls: Ambidextrous selector lever and magazine release. Charging handle may be mounted on right or left side. Enlarged trigger guard for easier access when wearing gloves. Adjustable gas regulator for use with sound suppressor to maintain constant rate of fire. Magazine: A vailable 20- and 30-round magazine capacity. Steel magazine body. Low friction follower. Compatible with M16/M4 magazines. Stock: 2-position PARA stock design, butt plate cap, or compatible with SCARTM buttstock. Composite polymer construction with aluminum rails. Provides for a more compact weapon package in aircraft and vehicle use. 200 meters effective range, point target.
