FAMARS (Fabbrica Armi Mario Abbiatico e Remo Salvinelli) was founded in 1967 by Mario Abbiatico and Remo Salvinelli. Their factory was located in Gardone Val Trompia, Italy. The Venus sidelock is the highest grade side-by-side made by Famars and features exclusive patented Famars lockwork. The lockwork is mounted on solid steel side plates with integral pins which creates a mechanism of great strength, this endows the gun with a longevity that is probably unequalled. The uninterrupted external face allows the engraver more freedom than with locks pinned through the plate. The barrels are chopper lump and the Venus is normally supplied with a straight English stock and forend but a pistol grip or beavertail forend are options.
