Initially delivered by Remington from 1863 to 1875, the 1858 New Model Army was a mechanically progressed plan which consolidated such highlights as a 'shut top' outline (presently standard on virtually all cutting edge pistols). Just the respected Colt 1860 Army gun saw more use than the New Model Army as an issue sidearm in the Civil War, with more than 100,000 model 1858 guns bought for military use during the War Between the States.
