The Caracal F .40 S&W is a modern semi-automatic pistol in cal.40. It is based on the established Caracal Pistol F design, supports an 14 round magazine, a tactical rail and boasts unique features such as a short trigger pull, low profile slide and bore axis, the combined effect of which is greatly reduced "felt" recoil. Without using a Firing Pin Unit, the weapon is capable of carrying exchangeable sights. Internal Safety: Grip, Drop & Firing Pin. Caracal GmbH manufactures the pistols in association with the Suhl Arms Alliance based in Suhl. The trigger safety is only deactivated when the central trigger part is deliberately pulled and automatically activated when it is released. The second trigger safety affects the firing pin whose channel is blocked by a steel bolt when the safety mechanism is activated. The third safety is a drop safety to prevent shots being fired as the result of a hard impact. Milled serrations at the front and back of the slide allow for fast loading and easy dismantling. The low sight of only 18 mm makes the pistol insensitive to any muzzle flip and ensures a tolerable recoil. The chamber indicator can be used to see if the pistol is loaded, the firing pin can be both seen and felt at the back of the slide and indicates the cocking state. The trigger for the magazine change is located on both sides of the pistol, on the handle. With only 28 components in five main sections, the Caracal pistol can be disassembled easily.
