The 687 Ultralight was made to be light. The key to the Ultralight's feathery feel is a light but strong Ergal alloy frame, reinforced at the breech face and shoulders with hard, durable titanium. Ergal is a light metal alloy used in the aerospace industry and it is 65% lighter than steel but equaliy strong. From 1992 to 1997 it was called 686 Onyx and than name is changed to 686 Ultralight.
