The 155 mm projectile, has a cylindrical steel body designed for improved ballistics providing aerodynamic efficiency, and consists of a conventional design with a streamlined ogive and a boat tail base. The cylindrical steel body nose has a respective fuse well (2.0 in – 12 UNF-2B (NATO standard 2-in fuse thread) and the projectile enclose cavity is protected with Bituminous / asphaltic or red-oxide-type protective coating.
A pressed metal drive band encircles the shell casing near the base and is protected by a grommet during storage, transport, and handling. The fusewell is occupied by a threaded lifting plug (with a 2.0 in – 12 UNF thread) during transit and handling. The lifting plug must be replaced before use, by a wide range of standard and commercial fuses.
The empty shell body shape is formed by carbon steel forging / CNC machining ready for assembly. The raw material of carbon steel body is a special alloy steel that ensures the features necessary to applying, functionality and performance of the projectile.
For protection against corrosion, primer + paint are applied on the outer side of the shell. The inner side of the shell receives an asphalt coating layer. For more information please contact me direct at [email protected]
