In 1996, two high-level IPSC shooters founded the SPS weapons factory. One of them, Ceferino Masip, also a prestigious gunsmith, collaborated with the Astra arms factory, located in the Basque Country, with the new designs of the pistols, based on the 1911 system, providing the new double-row grip with the integrated fanel and modular frame, to become the 2011 model. The first units of this SPS pistol were manufactured in Astra and a year later the SPS factory was inaugurated in the town of Ripollet (Barcelona), inspired by these models of proven success and becoming in world reference in the field of Sports pistols with its exclusive models for IPSC and Precision shooting. In 2002 Mario Llobet assumed ownership of the company and became its CEO. Since then, SPS has adapted to new technologies, constantly improving its models. In 2010, a collaboration agreement was reached with Metro Arms Corporation, the prestigious Philippine pistol factory that for more than 25 years has been exporting the 1911 model to the North American market, for the manufacture of our SPS pistols; Stainless steel magazines, a fundamental part of any semi-automatic weapon, are manufactured in our facilities in Ripollet. Throughout these years, expert shooters, including European and World champions, have used our brand, which has become a world benchmark in sport pistol shooting.
