Steel
I use mainly 12c27 and RWL34 stainless steels for the knife blades. Both of which are professionally heat treated with cyrogenic quench to a rockwell C hardness of 58-60. These two types are some of the best corrosion resistant steels available today, with edge holding characteristics that are desirable in a working knife.
Handles
My personal preference for handle material is micarta, which comes in a range of colours and textures, some of which resemble ivory and bone. The resistance of micarta is outstanding, perhaps the most stable and water resistant material in use today. I also use natural hard woods, horn, sanbar stag and burl's such as cocabolo, ebony, birds eye maple.
Sheaths
All my knives come with a sheath made from 8-9oz vegetable tanned leather, individually wet formed to each knife. When the sheath is dry it is given a couple coats of leather finish to seal and protect it from moisture and help maintain its fit to the knife.
